Donation Center Clothing Closet

The Donation Center Clothing Closet provides Family Resources Clients with clothing, personal care products and home goods during times of crisis and life transitions. Donation Center items are donated by the community and processed by volunteers. This is a high impact volunteer opportunity that directly benefits Family Resources clients.

Volunteer Service Description: An initial orientation is provided. Volunteers will sort and process donated clothing and self-care products. An initial orientation, ready items will placed to stock the donation store. Volunteers keep the store stocked, clean and presentable. The Volunteer Coordinator will be available to assist your or your team during shifts as needed.

Internships: support the work and mission of Family Resources in the community as well as provide the opportunity for professional development in any of our programs:

Survivor Services / AdvocacyCounseling / Mental Health Coordinated Assessment ProgramAdministration / FinanceResource Development / MarketingHuman Resources

Internships take place during regular agency office hours and a flexible schedule is recommended in order to serve clients when they are available. Human Service/Social Work internships are expected to be served with the majority of the hours in direct service.

Internships should be applied for at least a semester ahead of the internship assignment in order to have time to meet Prerequisites: Application, cleared background checks, finger print results and training if required.

Survivor Services internships requires 64 hours of Survivor Advocacy Training offered by the agency. Application, background checks and all prerequisites must be completed before entering training.  

All Internship Inquiries must include a cover letter with essential information for consideration:

Academic Program Undergraduate or Graduate level Family Resources Program of interest Number of hours needed Credentials required of Family Resources Internship Supervisor  Length of Internship Additional requirements or accommodations

The Process of Determination to expect:

Submit cover letter to the Intern CoordinatorThe Intern Coordinator will let you know if there is an available internship Intern application and background check forms must be completedAn interview will be scheduled with the program providing the internship if there is a possible matchAn internship may be offered contingent on background clearancesOrientation and training will be provided if applicable and per program requirements

Blankets are always needed for our Donation Center and for our Domestic Violence Shelter.  Anyone can make these easy no-sew blankets. All you need is fleece and a pair of scissors. Materials are not provided but your volunteer time and in-kind gift will have great impact and be a comfort to those in needs.
